What causes addictions?
Addiction can begin in many ways or forms and for an array of reasons. In any case, it begins when a person introduces a foreign addictive substance into their bodies. Once introduced, the substance interferes with the brain function. From there, a person’s genetics, temperament, past trauma, mental health, environment, upbringing, attitude and other factors can influence a development of addiction. Some people are more susceptible than others but everyone can become addicted to a substance. Once addicted, it can become very difficult to overcome without help.
